Their goal is to preserve its grandeur while ensuring its resilience for generations to come. History of The Mirasol
Built in 1926 as the crown jewel of Davis Islands, The Mirasol was a Mediterranean Revival masterpiece designed by architect Martin Hampton. Once a palatial hotel with a bustling lobby, rooftop sky garden, and waterfront restaurant, it drew residents and visitors to experience Tampa's elegance. Though later converted to apartments, The Mirasol remains a treasured piece of living history, echoing the grandeur of a bygone era.
The Mirasol Today
Frank and Lindsey Carriera have dedicated the past three years to restoring The Mirasol, investing in critical repairs and thoughtful updates to honor its historic charm. However, the century-old landmark now faces mounting challenges, especially after recent hurricanes inflicted severe damage. To preserve this iconic building for future generations, a major investment and renovation are urgently needed.
The Next Chapter
The vision for The Mirasol’s future honors its storied past, transforming this historic 1926 landmark into a vibrant, boutique hotel once again. With restored architectural elegance and new resilient features, The Mirasol will offer luxurious guest rooms, a revitalized restaurant, and a stunning rooftop sky garden. The addition of two low-rise expansion wings will ensure the financial and structural stability of this beloved community icon, preserving its legacy for the next century.
